The Liquor Commission Control currently offers an online payment system for license renewals and tax payments. A spirits and wine online reporting system for distributors is currently in development.

“Our Commission will continue to offer more services online,” said Rupe. “We look forward to working with Nebraska.gov to reach our goal of providing more efficient ways for our users and staff to conduct everyday business.”

P.O. Pears to close March 23rd

From the forum an email sent out splaining the end.

To Whom it may concern,

After almost 23 years at P O Pears my tenure as the cook, busboy, bartender, bus driver and owner/operator is over. I would like to take this time to thank all the wonderful people that I have had the chance to work with: customers, vendors and employees alike. I know, and am proud of the fact, that this Big Red building has held a lot of special memories for many people. I am sad to say that I was unable to sell Pears as an ongoing business and will instead be selling the land and building, the artifacts, and the furniture and fixtures separately. Over the years I have been fortunate to operate what I felt was one of Lincoln, Nebraska’s most unique landmarks, but times have changed and it is time for me (and my family) to move on.

Our last day open to the public will be Saturday, March 23rd. Our final show here will be one of the best we have ever had, a special performance by 176 Keys Dueling Pianos act. Advance tickets will be sold and I encourage you to stop in and get yours now. The auction will be Friday, April 18th for the artifacts and memorabilia. I encourage all of you for whom this place holds a special memory to consider attending the auction and owning a special piece of Lincoln History.

If you are one of the customers I have had the pleasure of serving throughout the years, thank you so much for your repeat business. If you are one of the many current and former employees that I have had the pleasure of working alongside, thanks so much for going on this ride with me and your efforts in the past. If you are one of our family of vendors, know that we will be working together closely throughout the process to tie up loose ends. if you have questions please contact me through emails at bjergensen at yahoo.com .

Robert “Bobby” Jergensen
Owner
World-Famous P.O. Pears

They rule plain and simple. The goofiness, egg buns, and curly fries have no equal.

How about another BorK meet and greet to kiss it good bye?

 stealing girl scout cookies? shame

Filed under: Lincoln News — beerorkid @ Feb 27th, 2008

All right yall lets get the baschturds who ganked the cookies.

Article

Nearly $160 worth of Girl Scout Cookies disappeared from a 29-year-old’s car late Friday.

Police say the woman stopped to visit friends in the 1000 block of North 48th Street at 11 p.m. When she returned to her car about an hour later, 45 boxes of Peanut Butter Patties, Carmel deLites, Thin Mints, Shortbread cookies and Cinna-Spins that had been inside were gone, Office Katie Flood said. The car was left locked, but the cookie thief was able to get into the car through a partly opened window.

Police have no suspects, but may be wise to be on the lookout for a trail of cookie crumbs.

article on Lincoln’s bike lanes from UNL engineering

Filed under: Lincoln News, bikes — beerorkid @ Feb 25th, 2008

Article

“The big thing for bicyclists is to recognize that they are a vehicle on the street. They need to follow the same rules and regulations as if they were in a car – stopping at traffic signals, following all the rules. Constantly watching for the car no matter whether the car is in the wrong or the right. The car is much bigger, and if somebody is (going to get in a collision), we know who’s going to be the loser in that.”

 total lunar eclipse tonight

Filed under: Lincoln News, random crap — beerorkid @ Feb 20th, 2008

Hat tip to Mr Wilson

Don’t forget about tonight’s total lunar eclipse. The show starts around 7:45pm, with totality reached at 9:00pm. The total eclipse will last 52 minutes.

NPR mentioned it as well. It might be partially cloudy, but can easily be seen with the naked eye or binoculars. Oh and unlike a solar one, you can stare into it all you want.

A person with ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed.
