I think I have about 20 fried turkeys under my belt. It is the absolute best way. No it is not greasy, it will be the juiciest turkey you have ever tasted.
We watched the new good eats with Alton Brown on how to fry a turkey. It was your typical turkey fry but a little safer. But I did get one good tip out of it. Use a thermometer to tell when it is done. So simple actually. I had always done the 3.5 minutes per pound method. This will definitely be better.
