“this is done with a Metal plate on transducer vibrating at different frequencies. Sand collects where the plates amplitude is close to zero. If it was a circle, the sand would form concentric rings. The square shape distorts the rings since the diagonal width is longer than the straight width. Different lengths, different harmonic frequencies”
