Most low power rockets use a round lug that is attached to the rocket and the launch pad has a steel rod for the rocket to glide along at launch. Sometimes that rod can bend a bit and change the trajectory of the rocket. Extruded aluminum rail is popular for mid and high power rockets and can be used for low power ones as well.
I picked up a Rockwell Jaw Stand that can be easily configured to hold a rail and blast shield. Used a piece of tile on mine. The bolt sticking out of the rail is adjustable for rockets with long fins to fit. I still need to make something to hold a rod that I can attach to the stand. A popular way to go is to use a keyless chuck to hold the rod.
Worked great and I will pick up a longer rail eventually.
