yet another crafty hobby might be in our future

Theresa has been wanting us to take some fun classes together. Ballroom or swing dancing seemed like it could be fun, but a stained glass class seemed really cool. We registered through SCC, which was a huge pain, but we could of gone straight through Architectural Glassarts. $75 for five classes and two projects.
Our first class was last night. It seems everyone starts off on the same pattern that involves many different kinds of cuts. There were around 15 people there working on projects and 3 teachers who wander around and assist you if needed. It took about 10 minutes for the one guy to show us the basics and we dived right in.
By the end of the class we both had all of our pieces cut and I started using the copper foil to wrap pieces. It is a little scary to be cutting and using pliers on glass. Lots of tiny shards and I got one stuck in my pinky, but it was not too bad. The next project will be leaded glass and that will be more involved.
