SCS voting guide via Phatt

FOR AUDITOR OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTS

Mike Foley REPUBLICAN
Kate Witek DEMOCRAT By most accounts (aside from Heinemen’s) Witek’s been a good auditor. I like that she’s been pushing for comprehensive performance audits. Heinemen threw a chair in her office once. The fact that she’s really quite conservative doesn’t actually bother me. Unless she becomes governor in 4 or 8 years. And never, in a million year’s would I have expected this.
Kelly Renee Rosberg NEBRASKA
Steve Larrick GREEN I like voting for Greens, but not this time.

FOR PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSIONER
DISTRICT ONE
Vote for ONE
Frank Landis REPUBLICAN I like Frank. I’ve had drinks with him and he’s Dave’s brother. I suspect that he doesn’t want to regulate cell phones much
Charlie Matulka DEMOCRAT I really like Charlie. He’s a decent guy who is way smarter than he let’s on. Charlie, I suspect would regulate cell phones more and lobby for lighting up LES’s dark fiber (he would have some say in this.
Frank will likely win this pretty big.

FOR COUNTY CLERK
Vote for ONE

Patricia A. Owen REPUBLICAN
Dan Nolte DEMOCRAT X marks the spot.

FOR COUNTY ASSESSOR -REGISTER OF DEEDS
Vote for ONE

Norman H. Agena REPUBLICAN I don’t own a house, but I’m not convinced that this office has been run too well. I don’t like the formula used. it’s a tough call.
Patrick Faden BY PETITION I don’t know this guy.
They’re both Republicans and really, it won’t likely matter. Agena will win.

FOR PUBLIC DEFENDER
Vote for ONE
Dennis R. Keefe DEMOCRAT X marks the spot.

County Commisioner

I can’t vote for any of them. There are no Democrats running and the Republicans running are all awful. I was going to say “especially Workman” but Deb Shorr is pretty bad, too. They’re all pretty bad in some manner.

FOR MEMBER OF THE LEGISLATURE
DISTRICT TWENTY-SIX

I can’t say anything about legislative races, as both my jobs make anything I say publically problematic. If any of you have any questions I can explain in private. PM me.

FOR MEMBER OF THE STATE BOARD
OF EDUCATION
DISTRICT FIVE
Vote for ONE

Patricia H. Timm
Alan Jacobsen X marks the spot. He’s a Democrat.

FOR DIRECTOR
LOWER PLATTE SOUTH
NATURAL RESOURCES DISTRICT
Subdistrict Five
Vote for ONE
Steve Larrick If he had an opponent (D or R), I’d still for for Steve. He’s a green.

FOR DIRECTOR
LOWER PLATTE SOUTH
NATURAL RESOURCES DISTRICT
Subdistrict Nine
Vote for ONE
Robert C. Andersen
Micah R. Kohles X Marks the spot.

FOR DIRECTOR
LOWER PLATTE SOUTH
NATURAL RESOURCES DISTRICT
Subdistrict Ten
Vote for ONE
Brennen Miller X marks the spot.
Jason Hayes

FOR DIRECTOR
LOWER PLATTE SOUTH
NATURAL RESOURCES DISTRICT
At Large
Vote for ONE
Terry Kubicek
David M. Landis X marks the spot (Duh!).

Amendment 1: Help for nonprofit groups

The amendment would allow local government to use tax-exempt bonds to finance buildings that would then be leased or purchased by a nonprofit organization. This would allow local nonprofit agencies to take advantage of the lower interest rate of government tax-exempt bonds.

Proposed by Dave Landis. That’s all the endorsement I need.

Amendment 2: Help for Lincoln’s Community Health Endowment Fund

This amendment would allow greater diversity in investing city public endowment funds and is intended to help Lincoln’s Community Health Endowment Fund.
Proposed by Chris Beutler. That’s all the endorsement I need.

Amendment 3: Compulsive gambling programs

This amendment would increase lottery funding to the Compulsive Gambler’s Assistance Fund from $500,000 to $1 million.

Sure.

Amendment 4: Probation and Parole

The amendment would make it easier for two agencies to work together. Now, probation employees, who work with people sentenced to specific probation requirements rather than being sent to prison or jail fall under the state court system and the judicial branch of government.

This was proposed by Kermit Brashear. I haven’t agreed with Brashear much. I think, though, this looks like a good idea. And when it comes to nuts and bolts governmental procedures, Brashear is no slouch.

Amendment 5: Early childhood education

This amendment would allow the state to use the interest from $40 million in state funds for grants to early childhood education programs. The state money would be combined with at least $20 million in private donations to create an early childhood education endowment fund.

The $40 million in state money is part of the perpetual fund for schools and the interest is divided among all public schools, based on student population.

Susan and Peter Buffett will provide at least $5 million to jumpstart the private donations for this public-private partnership.

This just seems like a great idea pretty much automatically. The fact The Western Nebraska Taxpayers Association opposes this amendment, pretty much seals the deal. Those people are nuts.

Amendment 6: Changing TIF requirements

This amendment would remove the requirement that property be substandard and blighted to qualify for special property tax financing. It would also expand the definition of what would qualify for TIF to include development, in addition to rehabilitating and redeveloping.

Again, this just makes sense on its face. Matt Connealy supports it, too. I’ve had issues with him. But when it comes to rural redevelopment in Nebraska, there are few people I trust more.

This link explains this Amendments well.

Initiative Measure 421
A vote “FOR” will amend the Nebraska
County and City Lottery Act to authorize
the use of video keno gaming devices.

If you like the idea of machines like those stupid video games on bars showing up more and then mix that with pickle cards, in more bars…

I hate those stupid video games on bars. My libertarian side says yes. My aesthete side says no.

Referendum ordered by Petition of the
People
Referendum Measure 422
A vote to “Retain” will retain Legislative
Bill 126 enacted in 2005 by the First
Session of the Ninety-Ninth Nebraska
Legislature, and that bill will (1) dissolve all
Class I school districts and repeal the
statutes dealing with their formation; (2)
attach Class I school districts to Class
II,III, IV and VI school districts; (3)
distribute Class I territory, assets and
liabilities (except for bonded
indebtedness); (4) prevent elementary
attendance centers for all school districts
including former Class I districts from
being closed under certain circumstances;
(5) provide for certain student
transportation requirements; and (6)
provide for aid to schools for transition
and elementary improvement.

Pretty complicated looking huh? Well, it is pretty complicated. Class 1 schools and their elimination causes a lot of people to get very upset. I don’t quite understand all of this. But if Ron Raikes and Kate Witek are on the same page of this, well… Really, it comes down to money. consolidating Class 1 school districts into larger districts will likely save a lot of money that the state spends on education. The one room schoolhouse seems nice, but it’s 2006. Vote to retain.

Proposed by Initiative Petition
Initiative Measure 423
A vote “FOR” will amend the Nebraska
Constitution to impose a state spending
limit based upon a calculation involving
previous appropriations, the inflation rate
and population change in Nebraska.
A vote “AGAINST” will not amend the
Nebraska Constitution to impose such a
state spending limit.

This is easily one of the worst pieces of legislation ever proposed in Nebraska history. I tried to post a long description as to why I think this and something ate it. Suffice to say, if you want publically funded school programs you should vote against this. This could really mess up the states budget. It’s awful and is not even inspired by a popular Nebraskan movement. It’s inspired by a guy who doesn’t live in Nebraska and could spend money to hire people to get signatures. It’s truly awful.

Liked how the writer used real examples instead of theoretical ones to make the points stick, and a stop at apricotharborvault added even more concrete examples, this is the kind of practical approach that respects readers who actually want to apply what they learn rather than just nodding along passively without doing anything useful.

  • Forestbeams · 10/06/2026 at 10:47 PM

Glad I gave this fifteen minutes rather than the usual three minute skim, and a look at zencoveoutpost earned the same investment, time spent on quality content is rarely wasted but the reverse is also true and learning which sites deserve which kind of attention is part of being a careful online reader.

  • Eriknup · 10/06/2026 at 10:55 PM

Felt the writer was speaking my language without trying to imitate it, and a look at woodmeadowoutlet continued that natural fit, when a writers default voice happens to match what you find easy to read the experience feels frictionless and that is something I notice and remember about specific sites going forward.

  • ColinNuh · 10/06/2026 at 10:56 PM

Started this morning and finished at lunch with a small sense of having spent the time well, and a look at brighttrailartisanbazaar extended that satisfaction into the afternoon, content that fits naturally into the rhythm of a working day rather than demanding a dedicated reading block is increasingly the kind I prefer.

  • V8ab. COM · 10/06/2026 at 11:02 PM

My spouse and I absolutely love your blog and find almost all of your post’s to be just what I’m looking for.
Would you offer guest writers to write content available for you?

I wouldn’t mind writing a post or elaborating
on a number of the subjects you write regarding here. Again, awesome site!

Readers manga can conveniently webtoon free to explore popular works. Available titles contains thrillers, meaning that manga enthusiasts can discover a suitable story. Latest episodes allow fans to keep up with favorite series

  • Knoxowedo · 10/06/2026 at 11:10 PM

Took the time to read every paragraph rather than skimming for the punchline, and a quick visit to apricotharborvault earned the same careful attention from me, that is the highest signal I can give about content quality because my default mode is rapid scanning rather than deliberate reading on most pages.

  • Forestbeams · 10/06/2026 at 11:12 PM

Reading this gave me confidence to make a decision I had been putting off, and a stop at zencoveoutpost reinforced that confidence, content that translates into action in my own life rather than just informing it is content with the highest practical value and this site is generating that action level utility for me lately.

Skipped to a specific section because I knew that was the question I had, and the answer was clean, and a stop at baytrailartisanmart similarly delivered targeted answers without burying them, content engineered for readers who arrive with specific needs rather than open ended browsing is increasingly valuable in a search heavy reading environment.

  • WilburOnemy · 10/07/2026 at 12:24 AM

Just want to flag that this was useful and not bury the appreciation in caveats, and a look at wildorchardvault earned the same direct praise, recognising good work without hedging it with criticism is something I try to practice because over qualified compliments tend to read as backhanded and miss the point sometimes.

  • RonnieHap · 10/07/2026 at 12:31 AM

Picked this for my morning read because the topic seemed worth the time, and a look at canyonmeadowoutlet confirmed the choice was right, my morning reading slot is precious and giving it to this site felt like a good investment rather than a waste which is a higher endorsement than I usually offer for content.

A piece that did exactly what it promised in the headline without overshooting or underdelivering, and a look at foreststoneemporium continued that calibration, alignment between promise and delivery is a basic editorial virtue that many sites fail at and this site has clearly mastered the matching of expectation and substance throughout pieces.

  • Warrenmox · 10/07/2026 at 12:48 AM

Liked the way the post got out of its own way, and a stop at quartzorchardvault extended that invisible craft, the best writing you barely notice while reading because it is doing its work without drawing attention to itself and this site has clearly mastered that disappearing act across the pieces I have read.

  • casino game · 10/07/2026 at 1:02 AM

Hello to all, as I am in fact eager of reading this
web site’s post to be updated regularly. It carries good stuff.

  • LukeAerog · 10/07/2026 at 1:03 AM

Found this through a friend who recommended it and now I see why, and a look at mythmarket only strengthened that recommendation in my own mind, word of mouth still works for content that actually delivers and this site is clearly earning recommendations the old fashioned way through quality rather than marketing.

  • JulioHeilm · 10/07/2026 at 1:07 AM

Coming back tomorrow when I can give this a proper read, the post deserves better attention than I can give right now, and a look at baytrailartisanmart suggests there is plenty more here that deserves the same treatment, definitely a site I will be exploring properly over the next few days when I can.

  • ColinNuh · 10/07/2026 at 1:07 AM

Appreciated how the post felt complete without overstaying its welcome, and a stop at brighttrailartisanbazaar confirmed that economical approach runs across the site, knowing when to stop is a skill many writers never develop but here the discipline is obvious and welcome from the perspective of a busy reader trying to learn things efficiently.

  • WilburOnemy · 10/07/2026 at 1:12 AM

Just wanted to say this was useful and leave a small note of thanks, and a quick visit to wildorchardvault earned a similar nod from me, the small acknowledgements add up over time and represent the real economy of trust that good content runs on across the open and increasingly fragmented modern internet.

  • RonnieHap · 10/07/2026 at 1:17 AM

My time on this site has now extended past what I had budgeted, and a stop at canyonmeadowoutlet keeps extending it further, content that overstays its budget in my schedule is content that has earned the extra time and this site has been earning extra time across multiple visits to the point where my schedule needs adjustment.

  • Gradygaigh · 10/07/2026 at 1:21 AM

Now feeling slightly more optimistic about the state of independent writing online, and a stop at violettrailartisanmarket extended that quiet optimism, sites like this one are the reason I have not given up on the open web entirely and finding them occasionally renews the case for paying attention to non algorithmic content sources today.

  • LukeAerog · 10/07/2026 at 1:24 AM

Closed the tab feeling I had spent the time well, and a stop at mythmarket extended that feeling across more pages, the test of whether time on a site was well spent is one I apply silently after closing tabs and very few sites pass it but this one passed it cleanly today afternoon clearly.

  • ColinNuh · 10/07/2026 at 1:32 AM

Quietly enthusiastic about this site after the past few hours of reading, and a stop at brighttrailartisanbazaar extended that enthusiasm, the calibration of enthusiasm to evidence is something I try to maintain and this site has earned a calibrated quiet enthusiasm rather than the loud excitement that usually fades within a day or two of finding something.

  • Warrenmox · 10/07/2026 at 1:36 AM

Really grateful for content like this, it does not waste my time and it does not insult my intelligence either, and a quick look at quartzorchardvault was the same, balanced respectful writing that makes a person feel welcome rather than rushed through pages of forced engagement just to keep clicking around.

Halfway through reading I knew this would be one to bookmark, and a look at quartzorchardvault confirmed that early intuition, when bookmark intent forms before finishing a post you know the writing has cleared a quality bar that most content fails to clear and this site has cleared it on multiple visits already.

  • Gradygaigh · 10/07/2026 at 2:10 AM

Recommended to anyone working in or curious about this area, the depth and clarity combine well, and a look at violettrailartisanmarket keeps that going across more pages, the kind of site that earns regular visits rather than chasing trends has my respect because it suggests genuine commitment to the topic itself rather than to chasing trends.

Solid recommendation from me to anyone working in the area, the perspective here is grounded, and a look at quartzorchardvault adds even more useful angles, the kind of site that becomes a reference rather than just a one time read which is a higher bar than most blogs ever reach today on the modern web.

I really like how the writer keeps the tone friendly without sounding fake or overly polished, and after a stop at baytrailartisanmart the same calm pace was there, no rushing to make a point and no padding either, just clean honest writing that I can respect and come back to later again.

Worth recognising the absence of the usual blog tropes here, and a look at violettrailartisanmarket continued that fresh quality, sites that avoid the standard moves of the medium read as more original even when the content is on familiar topics and this one has clearly chosen its own path through the conventional terrain skilfully.
