So I work in the state network building. We house the majority of the state’s servers. A power failure hit us and apparently a huge section of downtown. Well even though most folk who connect to the state network would be looking at an powered off PC, I am doing just fine.
There is a huge diesel generator and monster battery backup making sure the millions of dollars worth of servers will never loose power. The lights flickered for a split second and then that generator smacked on. That thing is huge and it felt like an earthquake. A conga line of folk headed to the server operations room to check on the servers. All good.
