tilling tears you up along with the ground

Before:

IMG_1290

I know it looks kinda like grass in that pic, but very little of it is. By the fence it was some sort of clover and up by me was tons of sunflowers that had been trimmed down weekly. The only good grass is the little blotches by the garage. Three areas I needed to till. The main lawn in the pic, a kennel next to the garage which we are going to plant a garden, and an area in the alley where Theresa wants to put fruit bushes and lilacs.

The tiller was decent and Jeff at Ace told me it would wear me out. Oh man I had no clue. First the thing did not have grips and it was so powerful that you had to lean back and basically pull it really hard to keep it from running away from you. I made it maybe 15 feet till I said no way. Went to the truck and grabbed a ratcheting tie down strap and made a loop for my butt. I reserved it for 3 hours but needed 4. It really wore me out after the first hour but I kept going.

The garden was still damp so it was really tough and did not turn out well. Might need to hit it again.

The main yard got chopped to heck and I raked and raked some of the green stuff out. It took me a while to get a system going, but using a 4 pronged hoe to get the green on top and then a regular plastic yard rake did wonders. It still needs a few more passes. I have hay and seed ready to go. Gonna pull up the wood next to the paver sidewalk and de weed that area.

Behind the garage was a pit for 7 years. In that little area in the pic there was tons of construction debris, wood, scrap metal, shingles, huge weeds, and tree debris after the year it took me to cut down a huge mulberry tree. The wood had mostly rotted away, many cats were born in that area over the years. It took three trips to the dump to clean it all out. Surprisingly the dirt under was amazing. The bushes are gonna be really happy there.

My arms are really sore. I still have a lot of work to do :(

Iowa man charged with throwing candy at police

Filed under: Regular News — beerorkid @ May 13th, 2008

Article

DES MOINES, Iowa - A college student whose friend was being questioned in a hit and run found himself charged with assaulting an officer with a curious choice of weapons: M&Ms.

Sean McGuire was arrested early Sunday at a convenience store after Drake University security guards noticed the colored candies falling on the ground around the officer. When the officer turned around, an M&M hit his shoulder, according to a police report.

McGuire claimed he threw the candy because he was “sticking up for his friend,” who apparently was the man suspected in the accident, the report states.

McGuire, of Glenview, Ill., was released from jail Sunday after posting $1,000 bond. A telephone call to his cell phone Monday wasn’t immediately returned.

gonna till the crap out of my land tomorrow. Should be lots of fun.

Taking the day off to get three areas of the yard ready to grow some stuff. A dog kennel will become our new garden, behind the garage we are gonna plant some bushes, and I will finally get that lawn I have always dreamed of with a freshly tilled new grass plantation.

I will take pics of it all so you can see how awesome it is. I have a plan for making me make food vids. Gonna mount the tripod on the bike helmet once again. Gonna test it out with hash browns tomorrow morning. So posts might be slim.

Police say man rode 3 bikes out of store

LJS article

The title of the story is a bit misleading, but good thing they caught him. Dude next time go for one of the expensive bikes ;)

A shoplifting suspect who allegedly rode a bicycle out of Cycle Works on Saturday is suspected of stealing two other bikes from the store.

Lincoln Police were called to Cycle Works at 27th and Vine streets at 5:35 p.m. after a man rode a bicycle out of the store without paying, Sgt. Don Scheinost said.

Officers found the suspect, Robert Aguirre, 34, 2740 Fair St., No. 108, near 29th and Holdrege streets within an hour of the alleged theft, Scheinost said.

Aguirre was cited on suspicion of shoplifting and was jailed on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Douglas County, Scheinost said.

A store employee recognized Aguirre as the person who allegedly had stolen another bike April 24, Scheinost said.

Police still have not found the blue and silver Trek 3900 valued at $380 that was stolen Saturday or another Trek bicycle valued at $260 stolen April 24, Scheinost said.

When police found Aguirre on Saturday, he allegedly had with him a $300 red and white Trek 3700 bicycle that had been stolen between last Monday and Thursday, Scheinost said.

 Mario Kart online is fun

The 150 CC is hard. I got fed up and decided to play online. Oh man that is fricking fun. It is fun to play noobs and uber players. You can vote on which track you want to play on or just choose random and the server will select a track. That was the cool part because it went through lots of tracks I do not play often. It was pretty quick and never had any loading problems. When you play real people the sneaky stuff seems to not happen like getting beat up right as you are about to win. I was lapping folks and learning tricks from watching others.

I found playing regional is better than worlwide, cuz the folks around the world are really fricking good. I lost enough to drop below 5000 in the worldwide so I switched back to regional and built my points back up.

A person with ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed.
