D’Leon’s plans to launch delivery from the downtown store next month

LJS Article

Valentino’s, Runza and Amigos are successful chain restaurants that originated in Lincoln.

With eight locations in three Nebraska cities — including six in Lincoln — you now can add D’Leon’s to the list.

The family-owned Mexican restaurant recently opened Nos. 5 and 6 in the Capital City within the past two months — a 24-hour drive-through at 1212 South St. and at 1422 O St., where Taco Bueno used to be.

D’Leon’s has come a long way since its 24-hour, drive-through-only opened on West O Street in December 2003. Where else, after all, could you purchase a chimichanga and phone card at the same time?

The first store was an instant success.

Why?

Although on the greasy side at times, the food tasted different (and better) than the city’s other Mexican restaurants.

Plus, the portions were ample, the prices reasonable and the selection immense.

Not much has changed.
