Picked this little guy up Wednesday. Defender is one of the few arcade games I wanted, so when it came up for sale I went for it. It was much easier to get into the basement than a pinball machine weighing only 144 pounds. THANKS ROB It can be used as a table, another great excuse for me to have bought it.
It is in good shape for being 32 years old. The control panels are very nice. I plan on going to micro switches. The screen is only 13 inches. The plastic top has a good amount of wear. I tried polishing it, but I will just make a new one. New buttons and a cap kit for the monitor will make it shine.
The game is pretty darn difficult. The first wave makes it seem simple, but then it just gets insane. I think I have it figured out though. In the settings I changed some stuff to make it a bit less difficult, 4 ships, planet restores after 3rd wave, bonus shio at 10,000, and any other settings to make it easier. It is still frustratingly difficult to play. A game lasts maybe 2 minutes. I did get the 6th highest score though.
