So proud to be a Nebraskan at the moment.
We unplugged the electric chair and a true change candidate won overwhelmingly.

Man the news loves Nebraska these days
OMAHA (AP) — Weather forecasters predict Nebraska will receive a treacherous mix of sleet, freezing rain and snow this weekend, so it’s understandable that events may get canceled.
But one of the first cancellations announced Friday afternoon came from an unexpected source: organizers of the Polar Bear Plunge.
The chilling swim in Omaha’s Zorinsky Lake raises money for the Special Olympics, but organizers decided to postpone the event because of the weather.
“We were kind of worried about the ice coming and people driving to the event,” said Wendy Jackson, with Special Olympics of Nebraska. “We don’t want anybody hurting themselves.”
So, the annual Polar Bear Plunge has been rescheduled for Dec. 8 at 11 a.m.

New York Times makes Nebraksa look like we are all…, oh wait many of us are…, oh well you know what I mean.
A Rural Dance Tradition in Twilight
Polka came to Nebraska in the 1850s, when Czechs fled worsening economic conditions in Bohemia and Moravia, drawn by the promise of large tracts of American farmland. In the beginning polka meant just one thing: a specific, two-beat couples dance. But now it describes a range of dances and rhythms usually achieved with an accordion, a tuba and sentimental lyrics about family, food, love and rural memories.
So we had tickets to see spamalot from Theresa’s parents and figured we would have some fun up in Omaha before the show. There was the husker game so we left about 1:30 to make sure we would avoid the traffic of drunks in red. Before we went we were like “what we gonna do?” “I dunno”….. When we got to Omaha it was the same. We had 6 hours to kill and saw the Nebraska furnature mart and headed there to kill some time.

Remember when I mentioned the auditor guy wanted to keep Theresa down? Well they just placed in the top 10 of state websites once again. nebraska.gov
hat tip to Lincolnite since the LJS does not have the article on its website. Seems like a conspiracy to me.

Auditor thinks state should consider running its own Web site
So Theresa works for NIC as a developer (computer programmer) and Mr Foley does not like that it is not done by a company in NE. Since I work for the Legislature I really cannot have an opinion on Mr Foley. Although he reminds me of Santorum often.
Still NIC does an amazing job and I hobe Theresa does not have to worry about her future with them.
The comments on the story make me smile though.
Not a big fan of little people music, but still a bit entertaining.
Theresa sent this to me

I know of some Department of Road employees who got jack squat for a raise - 0 percent - and now they get this good news:
State employees will pay almost $50 a month more for family coverage, and about $14 a month more for single coverage, under the state’s most expensive plan. About 13,500 workers use the state’s health insurance.
A person with ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed.
