Anyone looking to buy art?

Postby Bryan Klopping » 03 Mar 2009, 15:02

I'm broker than I have ever been in my life. I'd like to paint you something. I use oil and ink and no job is too large. Anyone want to commission something?

Here's the kind of thing I've been doing lately-- (Sneak peek at something for April's show)

I've got to think of something good, but what are your rates? Say I wanted something around 4'x3'? (Once I think of a good idea, of course.)

Honestly, I've never been comfortable setting a price for a piece.

Generally, I just ask for about two times the amount of material costs--and if people want to pay more, I'm very grateful.

Thank you very much for your consideration; I'm available to do work any time.

Actually I've just come up with an idea, how do you feel about doing portraits? (from a photograph of course, I can't sit still for more than a couple minutes)

I am going to be going to school for that starting this fall--right now I'm definitely willing to tackle one, but I couldn't promise that it would turn out good--it would take a while regardless.

That might improve the effect. My buddy and I just acquired an office together at work, and so a portrait of us together might make it more "homey". Or homo-ey. Or something. I'll get in touch once I have more of an idea.

Hahaha! I was actually going to make that joke but you beat me to it. If you wanted it to be kind of homo-ey I could definitely use a good pastel or similar background. I'm kind of excited to do this now; let me know when you have more information or ideas. Thanks again!

I'm excited about this too. Here's a picture of us together having dinner, to give you an idea. I might use this picture, or I might take a new one.

Yeah, pretty homo-ey haha. I'd be down to start this whenever you'd like; I might need some cash for the canvas though--I think I have $12 to my name to last me until April. I have everything else I would need for the painting.

I'll get in touch with you Thursday or Friday, I can pay up front, and I'll get you a higher res copy of that picture. This is gonna be so rad.

I can add "patron of the arts" to the list of things I tell girls that are mostly made up but have a kernel of truth to them.

Haha! Fuck yeah. I'd just ask for the money for the canvas up front; the higher the resolution of the photo, the better at this point. Patron of the arts indeed, awesome!

Monsieur Klopping, I am not working today. Is there some way I can meet you to give you money for a canvas? And how much would said canvas cost?

Hey! I am off work until 6 pm. I would be available to meet downtown where we could pick up a canvas at gomez. It's not the cheapest place, but it's convenient and I like to keep it local.

Trixie what is this Joann you speak off?
