I am now a board member of the South Salt Creek Community Organization
A couple months back I had contacted the South Salt Creek Community Organization about what could be done with a problem house. I was invited to attend one of their meetings and we went. It was a bit different than I thought it would be, but interesting. I skipped a meeting and was called and asked if I would attend the January meeting. They figured I would work well with them and wanted me to become a board member. A vote was taken and I was approved.
There are some cool events that will be happening in early April. UNL’s Big Event is April 13th. UNL students and staff do a day of volunteer service. I will be assisting with that leading crews to clean up a few areas and parks. April 20th is the yearly clean up day as well. 3 dumpsters are placed in the parking lot of Park Middle school for folks to get rid of stuff from their houses and property. My truck will assist wherever it can. They are thinking about making it a community garage sale on that day as well.
I have lived in the area for over 10 years and have seen what the South Salt Creek Community Organization has done. It really has improved the neighborhood and there are some neat plans coming up. I guess I am a part of getting the stuff done now. It will not take up too much of my time, but can do some good.
