USB HD you were such a pain to me

I was gifted one of these fine external USB hard drives a while back. It totally saved the day cuz I figured I might as well back up my important data off my network share, then my network share died. Phew…. Since my network share was dead the USB drive got a bunch of use. Well recently is has started getting a little flaky. It would mount as read only and no matter what I did I had to reboot my machine for it to show back up. Eventually a reboot would not fix it anymore. I finally decided to just mount the sucker in fstab and it is doing pretty good now.

I added another 300gb internal drive and plan on using the USB drive as a precious data backup device only. Thing just scares me too much to use as a regular drive.

  1. Firewire is where it’s at baby. Still, weird that it would only mount as read-only. I’ve got three of those bad boys sitting on my desk right now and have never had any issues.

  4. I’m heading down to OfficeMax after work today to pick up an external drive for backups. My primary drive failed yesterday and I can’t pull anything off it. Had to learn my lesson the hard way: Make regular backups, kids! :(

  • Meh.....

A person with ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed.
