Le Quartier bakery

Le Quartier bakery makes some killer stuff. Located in Meridian Park 6900 “O” St., Suite 132. We purchase their stuff at Ideal. Usually the cheddar loaf, but at the farmers market in Omaha I picked up some pizza crust, a cheddar loaf, and their uber blue cheese loaf.

Oh man the blue cheese bread was so rich. I drizzled some olive oil on a plate and sprinkled some black pepper on it and started dipping the bread in there. It is amazing. And seems really dangerous. It tastes so rich. The smell and look of are a good warning.

The pizza crusts come highly reccomended from a friend so I got three. I headed to Vals to get some pizza sauce and we made up on sat night. T chopped up some of our basil and orregano we grow to add to her pepperoni half. I added cream cheese and olives to my half. Was delicious. Theresa was meh… So I will be enjoying some lightly topped pizza’s for lunch monday and tuesday.

The buzz around this bakery is well deserved. They are apparently doing pretty well and no doubt it is because of their excellent produts.

  1. I worked in a bakery about 10 years ago. These people at Le Quartier REALLY know what they’re doing. It’s a bit more expensive but worth it.

  2. Sounds nice. I wish there was a bakery close to Near South. I heard about that new Red Moon place but haven’t made it in yet. That bleu cheese with olive oil sounds heavenly. You always eat well man. Maybe you will see me one day outside your house going through your garbage for scraps.

  3. Wiliamsburg Hy-Vee sounds fancy so it must be on the south side. They sell it there.

We have been together for 10 years but the first 8 we worked different schedules. We ate out more than we ate at home.

We are really enjoying making our own meals and continue to experiment. Tomorrow I plan on trying Chicken Fried Steak from scratch with real meat not the crappy cube or flank steak. Theresa found a recipe for some crazy crunchy baked chicken thingies and I am thinking some yummy salads soon. We both loved the oriental chicken salad Crane River used to make and could duplicate I bet.

Tonight we are gonna cook some frozen bacon burger mac and cheese we made a while back. Our freezer is packed full right now with stuff. We made a cheesy sauce with a little bacon on fettuccine last night, it did not turn out that good :(

As for digging through my trash you will have a bunch of competition from the scrap metal folk and cats ;)

  4. If you hear a rustling in the alley, be quick and be quiet and you may get the rare opportunity to see a Mr. T in the wild, foraging for a quick snack from your garbage cans… If you shine a flashlight upon him he will freeze motionless, and stare at you with his creepy glowing eyes. But be warned, do not approach him, for any attempt to do so may lead to peril. When backed into a corner, the wild Mr. T will become surly and defensive, and may attempt to claw out your eyes before escaping into the wild urban night…

I get paid next week. Gonna visit this place, since apparently it’s only a couple of blocks from my apartment. I’ve gotten some of their bread loaves from Russ’s before and it was awesome, so I might try a pizza or two.

  5. ahhh red moon the place with the cupcakes. Great idea. Cupcake places are all the rage in cities. I bet they do good.

Jschwa, T and her dad have commented on the high quality of your comments. I would have to agree.

  6. Ah yes! I already have a plan to join the “South Side Winos,” dress in black, and assault BorK’s garbage cans and garden in the night for edible goodness. Man that blue cheese bread and olive oil idea really got me going early. I am glad to hear that you and T are embarking on a culinary tour de force. Perhaps some pics are in order?

  7. I’ve got a great CFS recipe I’ll have to send you. Start with a good cut of meat. I use minute steak from my in-laws ranch in the Sandhills. Yum!

  8. Aww shucks. I don’t do it for the fame or recognition. I do it for the people.

A person with ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed.
