so over at starcityscene.com I offered to be a moderator on the forum. It is a phpbb site and gets hit by spam bots all the fricking time. The admin does not get on the message board all that often like he used to. It was out of control. people would start replying to the spam. It was kinda fun for a bit.
Anyways people started getting really bummed out about it. I offered to be a moderator since I am online all fricking day. I got the job. Funny thing is I am no music expert or musician, I just like message boards.
Cool, man. Did you look into providing SCS with a ‘captcha’ or some other way to deter the bots? I’m sure there a ton of free ones for PHPBB…
That would be slick, though, you wouldn’t get all the honor you now (deservedly) receive

BoK, I feel like an outsider to scs… cuz everyone knows everyone and I probably do too except I can’t put a face to their user name. Trixie is easy and I know Eric is Phat, other than that, I’m stupified. How many peeps you know on there?

Tery, the admin did enable captcha as I did on my phpbb forum as well, but it just does not cut it.
The current phpbb is borked bad, peeps pissed, moderators are the best option currently.
phpbb 3 should be out soon, I installed the beta, but it is not meant to be in production yet.

actually it is strange. I really do not know how many people I know cuz of the username issue. Exact on FFL for a while.
For a while I kinda got it figured out on the old board, but names changed in the transfer.
I am a complete outsider, just snuck in there.
Some I have met by going to duffy’s shows and handing out flyers and then it clicks to some. Strange.

Yup, I’m gravy but I don’t go there often.
I used to go to Duffois every night but now I’m old and I don’t go out late so I’m sort of dropped out of the “scene.”
