 Milage through wilderness

Filed under: bikes, biking community, wilderness park — beerorkid @ Jul 30th, 2006

beeramid

so a nice young lady, Sydney, who is a Cornhusker State games double gold champ asked “what is the milage on a tues night MWC ride?” I had an idea, and others on folksfromlincoln.com (the local bike gang blog) had clues, but no actual #’s

I took it upon myself to figure it out. Set out sunday early to avoid the heat, well that was the plan, did not work out like I thought it would. Oh well. I grabbed many different lengths for yall to add together and figure out your route.

Oh man I sooooo wanna see the rest of the crap in this post… »

here is the breakdown: (all in miles)
from Pioneers parking lot to the first bridge:
.75 (it is the same length if you take biker or hiker)

from main bridge to the beeramid:
3.15

from beeramid to 14th:
2.15

from 14th to EP bridge:
1.8

From EP bridge to Satillo road:
.95

Hiker side from 14th to the main bridge:
4.9

So a usual MWC ride taking biker out and hiker back is:
15.29 miles from pioneers to Ep and back to Pioneers.

NWTT: 10.19

pioneers to Satillo parking lot taking biker: 8.79

biker from pioneers to 14th 6.04
hiker from pioneers to 14th 5.65

« Enough crap for me, close it up please

 Jake Shimabukuro “Orange World”

Filed under: music, music vids — beerorkid @ Jul 29th, 2006

This song was played when he came to Lincoln with the flecktones. He took what he learned from playing with Bela and put a blugrass feel to it. The guy is unbelievable.

It was really neat to meet Jake after a show in Lawrence. It was his first time on the “mainland” he was astuonded by how flat and far away thing were.
I talked with him after his show in Lincoln and he kept commenting on all the cows and no mountians. Was funny. He has been rocking out the midwest a bunch lately. I saw him play solo with some amazing musicians at the Leid center here. He is one of many musicians who makes me cry when I see them. It is not sad, it is pure joy of being able to see something so amazing that mekes me that happy.

Jake is awesome……………………

CNN story on our electric chair

“Nebraska … now is alone in the United States, actually in the whole world, in still requiring electrocution,” Carey Dean Moore’s lawyer, Alan Peterson, argued to the court. “Nebraska is the last holdout for this universally rejected and condemned sole means of capital punishment.”

sad, so sad :(

 any one for taco’s?

that be one taco’ed wheel ;)
Headed down to Chris’s house for a ride through wagontrain. They have some interesting trails there. not too fast or straight, lots of sharp turns. has some nice rollercoaster type dips and some hills. I though it went all the way around, but it seems to mostly on the east side. You can do loops within the different trails.

So Chris likes to get air being a crazy motocross guy. He got some nice air off a lip ontop of a decent hill. The front wheel could not take the hit, doh…. Lucky for him it happened really close to the car and he rolled out with a few scrapes. more pic’s here

A person with ubuntu is open and available to others, affirming of others, does not feel threatened that others are able and good, for he or she has a proper self-assurance that comes from knowing that he or she belongs in a greater whole and is diminished when others are humiliated or diminished, when others are tortured or oppressed.
